* General Information:
I have limp, flyaway hair...

Your haircut, the products you use, and the way you style your hair can all contribute to hair that falls flat.

To help bring volume to you, try these tricks:

Get layers. The number one reason hair droops: it lacks layers. One-length hair lies so flat because of its weight. Getting layers cut into your hair takes some weight off the ends, allowing the hair to spring up more easily. Layers work for all hair types and lengths; your stylist can tailor layers to create a look that suits you.

Go light on styling products. Styling creams and lotions that contain heavy moisturizing ingredients can weigh hair down, reducing volume. To boost lift, use a gel or spray specifically designed to add volume (look for "root lifter" or "volumizing" on the bottle). Apply to damp hair, concentrating application at the roots. If your hair is dry in spots and needs moisturizing, smooth a pea-sized drop of leave-in conditioner onto parched areas only.

Dry the right way. The perfect volumizing product will be of little help if you don't blow-dry your hair in a way that encourages lift. To do this, flip your head over, and aim the nozzle of the dryer at your roots. The heat will "cement" the lift at your roots by activating the volumizer. When your roots are completely dry, you can flip your head back and continue drying as you normally would.

Try teasing. It goes back to the 1950s, but teasing is a great fix for flat hair (just think of the height of those beehives!). When you've completely dried your hair, use a very fine-tooth comb to tease your hair at the roots. Spritz with hairspray when you're done. Tip: Bring a small comb with you during the day for spot-teasing if your hair begins to fall.
